Sandi Wellman

Bb Soprano Clarinet

Sandi Wellman grew up in the small town of Lubbock, Texas, where her love of music developed through being involved in the school’s band program and earning three selections to the Texas All-State Band. After graduating from high school, Sandi earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from Texas Tech University while studying with Dr. Robert Walzel. She then received a graduate assistant scholarship to continue her clarinet studies at Texas Christian University, under the direction of Gary Whitman, where she was awarded her Master’s Degree in Music Performance in 2000.

After college, Sandi taught clarinet lessons throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area before winning an audition to become a member of the United States Air Force Band of the West in 2001. Her position in the Air Force has afforded her opportunities to live in Germany, travel all over the world, teach leadership at the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and perform for many presidents and foreign dignitaries.

Sandi also enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and three children. In 2016, Sandi finished her Master’s of Education from Oklahoma University and is looking forward to working with special needs children when she retires from the Air Force.
